Module 9: Going Back to the 1920’s

(It is not) “… a dream of motor cars and high wages merely, but a dream of social order in which each man and each woman shall be able to attain to the fullest stature of which they are innately capable, and be recognized by others for what they are, regardless of the fortuitous circumstances of birth or position.”

The American dream is a national character developed in the US for the people of America. It is the rights of the people, democracy, liberty, equality, and opportunity. It talks about the freedom every citizen should enjoy, prosper through hard work, and move up socially. Truslow, in the year 1931, explained that everyone's life is supposed to be better. Everyone should also be able to gain and given equal opportunities. Everyone should be able to enjoy the freedom of the American Dream.
According to the history of development in America, America developed in a very vast way. Within a short period, a lot had been done. Within a bracket of 10 years, over 21 million cars had been assembled, and each household owned one. This production of cars led to the betterment of the American terrain. Better roads were built. Although the expenditure was high, America did this for itself. It ensured the American people enjoyed the car invention to the fullest.
Many industries, such as recreation and entertainment, rose above the existing companies, such as textile and steel companies. This is because the American people adopted a new way of life, better clothes, more efficient food, and better utilities. They now spent their money acquiring these new necessities. Ford motivates the rest of the Americans to struggle and achieve whatever they desire. His inventions and developments show how he was determined to make it easier to achieve desired goals. It is awe-inspiring to note that he was able to reduce car assembly days from 12 to 1.
In conclusion, the American Dream, therefore, implies that any American should embrace change in any way they feel comfortable. It is after uniting and motivating the American people to enjoy their freedom. Every person pursues happiness and no oppression in any way. More developments are brought about with the existence of this slogan. Everyone works freely to the best of their ability with no pressure whatsoever.
